Possible Causes
Ventilation module not detected, Miswired VENT or ACC terminals, Incompatible ERV/HRV model, Failed internal ventilation relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the air handler and any ERV/HRV units at the breaker.
- Verify accessory type: In installer settings, confirm that the correct ventilation accessory (ERV, HRV, fresh air damper) is selected.
- Check wiring: Inspect the ventilation control wiring between the thermostat, any American Standard ventilation module, and the ERV/HRV. Ensure correct terminals and secure connections.
- Standalone test: If possible, manually switch the ERV/HRV to "On" at its own control to verify it operates independently of the thermostat.
Resolution: If the ventilation device works independently but E17 persists, the thermostat or ventilation module may be faulty.
