Possible Causes
Wi‑Fi module failure on thermostat, Incorrect Wi‑Fi credentials, Router blocking outbound connections, Weak signal at thermostat location
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No high-voltage work is required for Wi‑Fi issues, but do not remove covers from HVAC equipment.
- Check home Wi‑Fi: Confirm your router is powered and other devices can access the internet. Reboot the router if needed.
- Verify SSID and password: On the thermostat, go to Wi‑Fi Settings and re-enter your network name and password. Ensure you are connecting to a 2.4 GHz network if the thermostat does not support 5 GHz.
- Signal strength: Check the Wi‑Fi signal indicator on the thermostat. If weak, move the router closer or add a Wi‑Fi extender between the router and thermostat.
- Firewall settings: Ensure your router is not blocking outbound connections required by American Standard cloud services. Temporarily disable overly strict firewall or parental controls and test again.
- Factory network reset: Use the thermostat menu to reset network settings, then reconfigure Wi‑Fi from scratch.
Service note: If E5 persists and other devices work fine on Wi‑Fi, the thermostat’s Wi‑Fi module may be defective and the thermostat may need replacement.
