Possible Causes
Bus cable run parallel to mains causing interference, Poor-quality or damaged low-voltage cable, Loose bus terminals, Faulty thermostat communication module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power to boiler and thermostat before handling wiring.
- Inspect cable routing: Trace the bus cable between thermostat and boiler. If it runs tightly bundled with 230 V mains cables, reroute it at least a few centimeters away where possible to reduce interference.
- Check cable type: Ensure a twisted-pair low-voltage cable (e.g. 2x0.75 mm² or as specified by Ariston) is used. Replace thin bell wire or visibly damaged cable.
- Retighten terminals: Remove each bus wire, trim oxidized ends, re-strip 6–8 mm of insulation, and reinsert firmly into the boiler and thermostat terminals.
- Update firmware: If the thermostat is Wi‑Fi enabled, check the Ariston app or web portal for firmware updates and apply them, then reboot the thermostat.
- Persistent issues: If error 102 continues, the thermostat’s communication module or boiler’s bus board may need replacement by a qualified technician.
