Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Boiler and receiver wiring carry mains voltage. Isolate power before removing covers.
Steps to check:
- 1. Confirm thermostat is calling for heat: Raise the set temperature above room temperature and ensure the thermostat indicates a heating demand (flame icon or similar).
- 2. Check receiver status: Observe the receiver LEDs; a specific LED usually indicates active heat demand. If no LED, the RF link or control logic may be faulty.
- 3. Listen for relay click: When demand starts, you should hear a click from the receiver. No click suggests a failed relay or control circuit.
- 4. Verify boiler settings: On the Baxi boiler control panel, ensure that external control is enabled and that the boiler is not in holiday or standby mode.
- 5. Test boiler with manual link: If competent and following the boiler manual, temporarily bridge the boiler’s room thermostat terminals. If the boiler fires, the issue is with the thermostat/receiver side.
When to call a professional: If the boiler responds to a manual link but not to the receiver, the receiver module or its wiring must be repaired or replaced by a heating engineer.
