Possible Causes
Thermostat installed above heat source (radiator, TV, electronics), Direct sunlight heating the thermostat, Blocked ventilation slots on thermostat housing, Internal component overheating due to fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not open the thermostat housing. If you suspect internal overheating, turn off power at the breaker.
- Check location: Ensure the thermostat is not directly above a radiator, fireplace, or other heat source, and not in direct sun for extended periods.
- Improve airflow: Make sure curtains, furniture, or covers are not blocking airflow around the thermostat.
- Allow to cool: Turn off the HVAC system for 15–30 minutes and let the thermostat cool. Then restore power and see if E13 clears.
- Relocate if necessary: If the location is inherently hot, consider relocating the thermostat to an interior wall away from heat sources, following Bosch installation guidelines.
- Replace if recurring without external cause: Repeated overtemperature errors in a cool location may indicate an internal fault; replace the thermostat.
