Possible Causes
Tripped HVAC breaker supplying 24V transformer, Blown low-voltage fuse on Bryant indoor control board, Disconnected R or C wire at thermostat or control board, Failed Bryant smart thermostat internal power circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the furnace/air handler at the breaker before removing panels or touching wiring.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- 1. Check breakers: Verify that the furnace/air handler and any dedicated transformer breakers are ON. Reset if tripped.
- 2. Inspect low-voltage fuse: Remove the blower door and locate the Bryant control board. Check the low-voltage fuse and replace if blown, after finding and correcting any shorts.
- 3. Verify R and C connections: Ensure the thermostat cable’s R and C wires are firmly connected at the control board and at the thermostat wall plate.
- 4. Test with another thermostat: If available, temporarily connect a basic 24V thermostat to confirm the system provides power. If the basic thermostat powers up but the Bryant smart thermostat does not, the thermostat is likely defective.
- 5. Replace thermostat if needed: Install a new Bryant-compatible smart thermostat and configure it according to the equipment.
