Possible Causes
Internal NTC sensor drifted out of calibration, Firmware bug in temperature reading, Electrical noise on sensor circuit, PCB damage from condensation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power or remove batteries before handling the thermostat.
Steps:
- Check environment: Ensure the thermostat is not installed in a location with extreme temperatures (e.g. unheated attic, directly above radiator, in sunlit window recess).
- Dry out condensation: If the thermostat has been exposed to condensation (e.g. after plastering or painting), remove it from the wall, open any user‑accessible covers, and allow it to dry in a warm, dry room for 24 hours.
- Firmware update and reset: Use the Ally app to update firmware if available, then perform a factory reset and reconfigure the device.
- Compare with reference thermometer: After reset, compare the displayed temperature with a reliable room thermometer. If readings are still wildly inaccurate and E7 persists, the sensor or PCB is defective.
- Replace thermostat: Replace the Danfoss Ally thermostat unit; internal sensor calibration is not user‑adjustable.
