Possible Causes
Valve pin stuck in open position, Ally thermostat not seated correctly on valve, Internal motor not driving to closed position, Incompatible valve with too long stroke
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Radiators and pipes may be very hot. Use gloves if necessary.
Steps:
- Set low temperature: Set the thermostat to a low setpoint (e.g. 5°C) and wait for the motor to drive the valve closed.
- Check mounting: Ensure the Ally head is firmly attached and not rotating freely. Tighten the clamp or ring nut.
- Remove and test valve pin: Remove the thermostat and verify that the valve pin can be pressed in and springs back. If it does not move or stays in, the valve body is faulty and must be replaced.
- Recalibrate: Reinstall the thermostat and run calibration. If the radiator still heats constantly, the internal drive may be defective and the Ally head should be replaced.
