Possible Causes

Failed relay in Drayton receiver, Broken switched live wire to boiler, Incorrect wiring at wiring centre, Thermostat not paired to receiver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: This involves mains voltage. Isolate power at the consumer unit before opening any wiring centres or receivers.

  • Check receiver status: Observe the Drayton receiver (e.g. SCR, Heat HubR). When heat is demanded, the heating LED should light and a relay click should be heard. If not, re-pair the thermostat to the receiver following Drayton instructions.
  • Verify wiring: Inspect the wiring from the receiver’s heating output (COM/NO) to the boiler’s call-for-heat terminals. Tighten loose screws and repair damaged cables.
  • Bypass test: With power off, temporarily link the boiler’s call-for-heat terminals at the wiring centre. Restore power briefly to confirm the boiler fires. If it does, the issue is between the receiver and wiring centre.
  • Replace receiver: If wiring is correct and the receiver does not switch the output under demand, replace the Drayton receiver or Heat HubR.
