Possible Causes
Weak Wi‑Fi signal at thermostat, Congested 2.4 GHz band, Router power-saving or band-steering issues, Outdated router firmware
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No electrical hazards. All steps are network-related.
- Step 1 – Check signal strength: On ecobee, go to About > Wi‑Fi and note signal strength. If low, move the router closer or add a Wi‑Fi extender.
- Step 2 – Use 2.4 GHz band: Ensure the ecobee is connected to a 2.4 GHz network, which has better range than 5 GHz.
- Step 3 – Disable aggressive power-saving on router: In router settings, turn off features that put Wi‑Fi radios to sleep or aggressively roam clients.
- Step 4 – Update router firmware: Install the latest firmware and reboot the router.
- Step 5 – Re-add Wi‑Fi network: Forget and re-add the Wi‑Fi network on the ecobee.
