Thermostat shows 'Calibrating: Heating and Cooling Disabled' for an extended time
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Recent power loss or restart, Large temperature swing at startup, Firmware update in progress, Internal sensor struggling to stabilize due to drafts or heat sources
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No electrical hazards. Do not remove power during firmware updates.
- Step 1 – Wait 20–30 minutes: Calibration can take several minutes after power is restored or firmware is updated.
- Step 2 – Check for drafts or heat sources: Ensure the thermostat is not in a drafty location or near a heat source that prevents stable readings.
- Step 3 – Reboot if stuck: If calibration persists for more than 30–45 minutes, remove the thermostat from the backplate for 30 seconds and reinstall.
- Step 4 – Replace thermostat if calibration never completes: Persistent calibration may indicate a failed internal sensor; replacement is recommended.
