Possible Causes
Internal NTC sensor failure on PCB, Overheating of thermostat due to installation near heat source, Faulty main PCB temperature monitoring circuit, Shorted sensor track on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off mains power or remove batteries before opening the thermostat housing.
- Check installation location: Ensure the Eurotronic thermostat is not installed directly above a radiator, in direct sunlight, or near other heat sources. If it is, relocate the thermostat to a cooler interior wall.
- Ventilation: Make sure ventilation slots on the thermostat housing are not blocked by curtains, furniture, or paint.
- Inspect PCB: Remove the front cover and visually inspect the PCB. Look for burn marks, discoloration, or melted plastic near the internal sensor area.
- Reset device: Perform a factory reset according to the Eurotronic manual (usually via menu or a reset button). Reconfigure and check if E3 returns.
- Replace thermostat: If E3 persists and the unit is not overheating externally, the internal sensor or PCB is defective. Replace the complete thermostat module.
