Possible Causes
Calibration offset incorrect, Valve pin travel too short, Worn internal drive mechanism, Incorrect valve type setting (NC/NO)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow radiator to cool before working on the TRV.
- Recalibrate TRV: Start a full calibration cycle from the TRV or thermostat menu to re-learn valve stroke.
- Check valve type: Ensure the TRV is configured for the correct valve type (normally closed vs. normally open) in the settings.
- Inspect mounting: Make sure the TRV head is firmly seated and not bottoming out on the adapter before fully closing the valve.
- Test without TRV: Remove the TRV head and manually press the valve pin to confirm that the valve can fully close and stop flow.
- Replace TRV head: If the valve itself closes but the TRV cannot push the pin far enough, the drive is worn and the head should be replaced.
