Possible Causes
TRV not opening valve fully, Incorrect adapter causing misalignment, Valve pin stuck closed, Airlock or hydraulic issue in radiator (non-thermostat)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Radiators can be hot; allow them to cool. Do not loosen water-carrying fittings unless you are qualified.
- Check TRV display: Ensure the TRV is powered, paired, and not in frost protection or off mode.
- Remove TRV head: Unscrew the TRV head and check if the radiator heats up with the head removed (valve pin fully open). If it does, the TRV is not opening enough.
- Free valve pin: Gently press and release the valve pin until it moves freely.
- Verify adapter: Confirm that the correct Eurotronic adapter is used and that the TRV head sits straight and tight on the valve.
- Bleed radiator: If the valve opens but radiator remains cold, bleed air from the radiator using a bleed key (heating off, then on) or contact a heating technician.
- Replace TRV head: If the valve and radiator are fine but the TRV does not open fully, replace the TRV head.
