Possible Causes
Backlight brightness set too low, Ambient light sensor misreading, Failing backlight LEDs, Low 24VAC supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No high-voltage work is required for brightness adjustments.
Steps to improve display visibility:
- 1. Adjust brightness: In the thermostat display settings, increase the active and idle brightness levels.
- 2. Check ambient light mode: If the thermostat uses an ambient light sensor, disable auto-dim or adjust its sensitivity if possible.
- 3. Verify power: Ensure the thermostat is powered by R and C and not relying on batteries only. Low voltage can dim the display.
- 4. Replace thermostat: If the backlight remains dim even at maximum settings, the LED backlight may be failing and the thermostat should be replaced.
