Possible Causes

Home internet outage, Router DNS misconfiguration, Firewall blocking Nest cloud servers, ISP issues

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Note: N3 affects app connectivity and remote control but not local thermostat operation.

  • Check internet on another device: Use a phone or laptop on the same Wi‑Fi to confirm internet access.
  • Reboot modem and router: Power cycle your internet modem and router, then wait several minutes.
  • Check router firewall: Ensure outbound HTTPS traffic is allowed and no parental controls are blocking the Nest.
  • Test with mobile hotspot: Temporarily connect the Nest to a phone hotspot to see if it can reach the service. If it works, the issue is with your home network or ISP.

If N3 continues while other devices work, contact your ISP or Google Nest support for further diagnostics.
