Nest thermostat base or wall plate is loose or wobbly

Safety note: Turn off power to the HVAC system before removing the thermostat to avoid pulling on live wires.

• Remove display and base: Gently pull off the display, then unscrew the base from the wall.
• Use proper anchors: If not mounting into a stud, install appropriate drywall anchors and use the provided screws.
• Reattach wall plate: If using the Nest trim plate, ensure it is flat against the wall and the base is screwed firmly through it.
• Check wire strain: Ensure thermostat wires are not pulling the base sideways; leave some slack in the wall cavity.

A stable base is essential for reliable ring operation and sensor readings.
