Google Nest Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Connectivity Issue

Nest thermostat does not detect Nest Temperature Sensors or shows them as offline

Advertisements

Possible Causes

Sensors too far from thermostat, Low battery in Nest Temperature Sensor, Interference from walls or appliances, Bluetooth disabled or malfunctioning on thermostat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Note: Temperature sensors connect via Bluetooth, not Wi‑Fi.

  • Move sensor closer: Temporarily place the sensor in the same room as the thermostat to test connectivity.
  • Replace sensor battery: Open the sensor and replace the coin cell battery with a fresh one of the same type.
  • Re-add sensor: In the Nest or Google Home app, remove the sensor and add it again following the pairing instructions.
  • Restart thermostat: Reboot the Nest by holding the ring for 10 seconds.

If sensors remain offline at close range, the thermostat's Bluetooth module may be failing and the display may need replacement.
