Nest thermostat makes clicking or buzzing noises during operation

Note: Soft clicking when heating or cooling starts/stops can be normal. Loud or continuous buzzing is not.

• Reseat display: Remove and firmly reattach the Nest display to ensure a solid connection to the base.
• Isolate electrical noise: Move high-current devices (e.g., large chargers, dimmers) away from the thermostat wiring path if possible.
• Observe pattern: Note whether the noise occurs only when switching modes or continuously.

Continuous buzzing or crackling may indicate a failing internal component; in that case, replace the Nest display.
