Possible Causes
Cold drafts behind thermostat, Sensor on external wall, Internal sensor damage, External sensor near door or window
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before removing the thermostat.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- 1. Seal wall box drafts:
- Check for cold air entering the wall box from cavities.
- Seal gaps with non-flammable insulation (not blocking ventilation directly behind sensor).
- 2. Relocate sensor:
- Move external room sensor away from drafts and external walls.
- 3. Use temperature offset:
- Some Heatit models allow a calibration offset; adjust to match actual temperature.
- 4. Replace sensor if faulty:
- If readings are unstable or far off, replace the thermostat or external sensor.
