Thermostat or app shows 'Boiler Error' and heating will not start despite demand

Safety first: Boilers and receivers contain mains voltage and gas components. Only qualified persons should open boiler casings.

• Check boiler display: Look at the boiler’s own display for error codes or lockout lights. Reset the boiler following the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Test manual override: Use the manual heating button on the Hive receiver. If the boiler still does not fire, the issue is likely with boiler wiring or the boiler itself.
• Check boiler controls: Ensure any built-in boiler timers or thermostats are set to allow external control or are set to constant ON.
• Inspect wiring (competent persons only): Verify that the Hive receiver’s call-for-heat terminals are correctly wired to the boiler’s room thermostat or control input.
• When to call a pro: If the boiler shows its own fault code or does not respond to a direct call for heat, contact a Gas Safe registered engineer.
