Possible Causes
RF interference, Receiver RF module failure, Thermostat RF module failure, Incorrect pairing or multiple receivers in range
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Avoid opening mains-powered receiver units. Isolate power if you must handle wiring.
- Check distance and obstacles: Move the thermostat closer to the receiver and away from thick walls, metal cabinets, or appliances.
- Reduce interference: Keep Wi‑Fi routers, baby monitors, and cordless phone bases at least a few feet away from the thermostat and receiver.
- Re-pair devices: Put the receiver into pairing mode and use the thermostat or app to re-establish the link. Delete any duplicate or old receivers from the Hive app.
- Check receiver status LED: If the LED indicates an error state (flashing pattern per Hive manual), power cycle the receiver and attempt pairing again.
- When to call a pro: If comms errors persist with good signal conditions, either the thermostat RF board or receiver RF board is likely defective and should be replaced.
