Possible Causes
Power loss during update, Poor RF or network connection, Insufficient internal memory, Firmware image corruption
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not power-cycle mains equipment repeatedly; allow devices to complete any recovery process.
- Stable power and network: Ensure the Hive Hub and router remain powered and connected to the internet. Avoid resetting during an update.
- Retry update: In the Hive app, check for updates again and allow the process to complete. Keep the thermostat close to the receiver/hub during the update.
- Power cycle after failure: If the device is unresponsive, power cycle it once (remove batteries or isolate mains for 30 seconds) and then retry the update.
- When to call a pro: If the thermostat or receiver will not boot or remains stuck in an update loop, it may need to be re-flashed or replaced by Hive.
