Possible Causes
Receiver lost pairing with hub, Receiver has no mains power, Internal receiver relay board fault, Network issue preventing hub from reaching receiver (for multi-zone or hub-linked setups)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: The Hive receiver is mains-powered. Turn off power at the fused spur or consumer unit before removing any covers.
- Check receiver LEDs: Look at the Hive receiver near the boiler. Confirm that the power LED is on. If off, check the fused spur, main switch, and fuse.
- Test manual override: Use the physical heating button on the receiver (if available). If pressing it does not start the boiler, the receiver relay or boiler wiring may be faulty.
- Reboot system: Power off the receiver for 30 seconds, then power back on. Also reboot the Hive Hub and your router.
- Re-pair receiver: Put the receiver into pairing mode (per Hive manual). In the Hive app, go to Install Devices > Add Heating and follow the steps to re-link.
- Check wiring: If comfortable and competent, verify that the live, neutral, and switched live connections are secure in the receiver terminals and at the boiler control block.
- When to call a pro: If the receiver has power but remains offline or the manual override fails, the receiver relay board or RF module is likely defective and should be replaced by a qualified engineer.
