Possible Causes
Dual-channel receiver lost pairing, Faulty hot water relay on receiver PCB, Cylinder thermostat wiring fault, No mains power to hot water channel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Hot water controls are mains-voltage. Isolate power at the fused spur before touching the receiver or wiring.
- Check dual-channel receiver: For systems with separate heating and hot water channels, confirm both LEDs are lit. If only one is lit, the hot water channel may have failed.
- Use manual override: Press the hot water button on the receiver. If the cylinder does not heat, the relay or wiring to the motorised valve/cylinder stat may be faulty.
- Re-pair device: Use the Hive app to remove and re-add the hot water device. Put the receiver into pairing mode and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Inspect wiring (competent persons only): Check that the hot water ON terminal from the receiver is securely wired to the hot water motorised valve or cylinder thermostat.
- When to call a pro: If the hot water relay clicks but the cylinder does not heat, or the channel remains offline, a professional should test the receiver PCB and associated wiring.
