Loss of RF communication between Hive thermostat and Hive receiver/hub
Thermostat display shows 'No Signal' and cannot control heating or hot water

Possible Causes
RF interference from other wireless devices, Hive receiver too far from thermostat, Metal objects or walls blocking RF signal, Faulty RF module in thermostat or receiver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: You normally do not need to open any mains-powered equipment for this fault. If you must touch the Hive receiver near the boiler, switch off power at the fused spur or consumer unit first.
Step-by-step:
- Check Hive Hub status: Ensure the Hive Hub (if used) is powered, Ethernet cable is connected to the router, and the hub light is solid (per Hive documentation). Reboot the hub by unplugging for 30 seconds and reconnecting.
- Move the thermostat: Temporarily move the Hive thermostat closer to the Hive receiver (the box wired to the boiler). Wait 2–3 minutes to see if the 'No Signal' message clears.
- Reduce interference: Keep the thermostat and receiver away from large metal objects, Wi‑Fi routers, cordless phone bases, and microwave ovens. If possible, change the Wi‑Fi channel on your router to reduce RF congestion.
- Re-pair thermostat and receiver: Put the Hive receiver into pairing mode (press and hold the central button until LEDs flash as per Hive manual). On the thermostat, go to Settings > Install Devices > Add Receiver and follow on-screen instructions.
- Check receiver LEDs: Confirm that the status LED on the Hive receiver is solid (not flashing error). If it continues to flash or never links, the RF module in the receiver or thermostat may be faulty.
- When to call a pro: If re-pairing fails repeatedly and the receiver is correctly powered, contact Hive support or a qualified heating engineer to test/replace the receiver or thermostat RF board.
