Possible Causes
Single-channel receiver installed on system requiring dual-channel, Hot water channel not wired, Faulty hot water relay, Cylinder thermostat or valve fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Hot water controls are mains-voltage. Isolate power before inspecting wiring.
- Confirm receiver type: Check whether you have a single-channel or dual-channel Hive receiver. Systems with stored hot water usually need dual-channel.
- Check app configuration: Ensure hot water control is enabled in the Hive app and linked to the correct receiver.
- Test manual hot water button: Press the hot water button on the receiver. If the cylinder does not heat, the relay or wiring is suspect.
- Inspect wiring (competent persons only): Verify that the hot water ON terminal is wired to the cylinder thermostat or motorised valve.
- When to call a pro: Incorrect receiver type or wiring must be corrected by a heating engineer.
