Possible Causes

Incorrect system type selected in installer setup, Incompatible iComfort thermostat model for connected equipment, Corrupted configuration data, Misidentified communicating vs. non‑communicating system

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power to the HVAC system before changing wiring. Configuration changes in the menu can be done with power on.

  • Step 1 – Review installer setup: Enter the installer or advanced setup menu (refer to the iComfort installation manual). Verify that the selected system type (heat pump, gas furnace, dual fuel, etc.) matches the actual equipment.
  • Step 2 – Check number of stages: Confirm that the configured number of heating and cooling stages matches the furnace/heat pump specifications.
  • Step 3 – Communicating vs. conventional: Ensure the thermostat is set for communicating mode only if connected to compatible iComfort communicating equipment. Otherwise, select conventional mode and wire to standard R, C, Y, W, G terminals.
  • Step 4 – Factory reset: If configuration appears corrupted, perform a factory reset from the system menu and re‑run the installer setup wizard.
  • Step 5 – Verify compatibility: Check the thermostat model number against the equipment model numbers in the iComfort compatibility chart. If incompatible, replace with a supported thermostat model.
