Possible Causes
Lost RF link between thermostat and Ideal RF receiver, Faulty Ideal gateway module, Incorrect pairing, RF interference from other devices
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No live wiring is usually required, but do not open boiler covers unless you are qualified. Only access the external RF receiver or gateway.
Steps:
- 1. Check distance and obstacles: Ensure the thermostat is within the recommended range of the Ideal RF receiver or gateway and not blocked by thick walls or metal objects.
- 2. Verify power to receiver/gateway: Confirm LEDs on the Ideal receiver or gateway are lit as per the manual. If not, check its fused spur or plug.
- 3. Re‑pair the devices: Put the Ideal receiver/gateway into pairing mode (press and hold the pairing button until the LED flashes). On the thermostat, go to Settings > Devices > Pair and follow on‑screen instructions.
- 4. Reduce interference: Move Wi‑Fi routers, cordless phone bases, and baby monitors away from the receiver if possible. Avoid placing the receiver behind metal enclosures.
- 5. Power cycle: Turn off power to the receiver/gateway for 30 seconds, then back on. Restart the thermostat and check if F6 clears.
Note: If the receiver or gateway LEDs indicate a hardware fault, it may need replacement.
