Possible Causes
Stuck relay in Ideal RF receiver, Permanent live linked incorrectly to CH ON, Zone valve microswitch stuck closed, Mis‑wiring in wiring centre
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the heating system before opening any wiring boxes.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm thermostat demand: Set the thermostat to 'Off' or a very low temperature. Check in the app that there is no heat demand.
- 2. Check RF receiver indicators: If the CH ON LED remains lit when there is no demand, the receiver relay may be stuck. Power cycle the receiver; if still stuck, it likely needs replacement.
- 3. Inspect wiring centre: Look for any permanent live accidentally linked to CH ON or to a zone valve orange wire. Correct any mis‑wiring according to the Ideal wiring diagram.
- 4. Test zone valve: Manually move the valve lever to 'Auto' and 'Manual'. If heating stays on even with valve closed, the microswitch may be stuck and the valve head should be replaced.
