Possible Causes
Cycle rate set too high, Proportional band too narrow, Boiler minimum run time not respected, Oversized boiler with low modulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal boiler work should be done by unqualified persons.
Steps:
- 1. Adjust cycle rate: In the installer settings, reduce the cycle rate (e.g. from 6 cycles/hour to 3 cycles/hour) appropriate for radiators or underfloor heating.
- 2. Increase hysteresis: If available, widen the temperature differential so the thermostat does not switch off with very small changes.
- 3. Enable OpenTherm (if supported): Use OpenTherm modulation instead of simple on/off to reduce cycling.
- 4. Check boiler settings: Ask a heating engineer to set a suitable minimum run time and anti‑cycle time on the Ideal boiler.
