Possible Causes
Thermostat installed above radiator or heat source, Direct sunlight on thermostat, Blocked ventilation slots, Internal component overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not cover the thermostat or attempt to cool it with water.
- Step 1 – Check location: Ensure the thermostat is not installed above a radiator, fireplace, or other heat source, and not in direct sunlight.
- Step 2 – Improve ventilation: Make sure air can circulate around the thermostat. Do not place furniture or curtains directly in front of it.
- Step 3 – Clean vents: Gently vacuum or brush any dust from the thermostat’s ventilation slots.
- Step 4 – Relocate thermostat: If the location is unsuitable, have a technician move the thermostat to an interior wall away from heat sources and drafts.
- Step 5 – Internal fault: If E16 occurs even in a cool, well-ventilated location, the internal temperature sensor or power components may be faulty; replace the thermostat.
