How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the thermostat at the breaker before removing it from the wall.
- Step 1 – Clean the screen: Wipe the touchscreen with a soft, slightly damp (not wet) microfiber cloth. Dry thoroughly. Do not use solvents.
- Step 2 – Reboot: Power cycle the thermostat by turning off the HVAC breaker for 60 seconds, then restore power.
- Step 3 – Inspect internal connections: Remove the thermostat from the sub‑base and carefully inspect the display ribbon cable connection to the main PCB. Gently reseat if loose.
- Step 4 – Check for physical damage: Look for cracks in the glass or signs of impact. A cracked digitizer will require replacement.
- Step 5 – Replace display module: If E12 persists and the screen remains unresponsive, replace the display/touchscreen module or the entire thermostat, depending on model.
