Possible Causes
Interrupted firmware update, Power surge on 24VAC supply, Failing flash memory on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off HVAC power at the breaker before removing the thermostat.
- Power reset: Remove the thermostat from the wall plate. Wait 2–3 minutes, then reinstall and restore power.
- Factory reset: If the menu is accessible, perform a full factory reset from the settings menu.
- Firmware recovery: Use the Lux app to check for and apply any firmware update. Keep power stable during the update; do not remove the thermostat or cycle breakers.
- Check transformer voltage: With a multimeter and power on, measure between R and C at the wall plate. Confirm 24VAC ±10%. If voltage is unstable, have an HVAC technician inspect the system transformer.
- Replace thermostat: If E7 persists after reset and firmware update, the internal memory is likely damaged and the thermostat should be replaced.
