Lux
Room Temperature Sensing Error
Thermostat temperature reading is significantly higher or lower than actual room temperature
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Thermostat installed near heat source or draft, Internal sensor drift on Lux main PCB, Incorrect calibration offset in settings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No electrical work is required.
- Check location: Ensure the thermostat is not installed above supply registers, near exterior doors, in direct sunlight, or above electronics that generate heat.
- Compare with reference: Place a reliable thermometer near the thermostat and compare readings after 15–20 minutes.
- Adjust calibration: In the Lux thermostat settings, use the temperature calibration or offset feature to correct minor differences (e.g., ±2°F).
- Relocate thermostat: If the location is poor, have a professional relocate the Lux wall plate and thermostat wiring to a more representative interior wall.
- Replace thermostat: If the sensor is off by a large amount and calibration cannot correct it, the internal sensor has likely drifted and the thermostat should be replaced.
