Possible Causes

Boiler requires OpenTherm or proprietary digital bus instead of dry contact, High‑voltage control circuit not suitable for Netatmo Relay, Heat pump or multi‑zone system not supported by single thermostat, Incorrect wiring mode selected in app

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Danger: Boiler control circuits can carry mains voltage. Always switch off power before inspecting wiring.

  • Check boiler manual: Confirm whether your boiler supports a simple on/off thermostat via dry contact. Look for terminals labeled TA, RT, or thermostat.
  • Verify wiring mode: In the Netatmo Energy app installation wizard, ensure you select the correct boiler type (gas, oil, heat pump) and wiring mode (wired or wireless).
  • Do not connect to digital bus: If your boiler uses OpenTherm or a proprietary bus (e.g., eBUS), do not connect the Netatmo Relay to those terminals. Use only the dedicated on/off thermostat terminals if available.
  • Consult a professional: If you are unsure about compatibility, contact a heating technician or Netatmo support with your boiler model number.

If the boiler has no suitable on/off thermostat input, the Netatmo Smart Thermostat cannot be used without additional interface modules; in that case, replacement with a compatible control system is required.
