Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: This is a low-voltage/network issue. Do not open the thermostat casing or touch any wiring.
- Confirm Wi‑Fi credentials: Double-check the SSID and password by connecting a phone to the same network.
- Use 2.4 GHz band: Many smart thermostats only support 2.4 GHz. Ensure the SSID you select is 2.4 GHz and not 5 GHz only.
- Check security mode: Use WPA2‑PSK (AES). Avoid enterprise authentication or unusual encryption modes.
- Improve signal strength: Move the Wi‑Fi router closer, or temporarily relocate a mesh node nearer to the thermostat. Aim for at least −65 dBm signal strength.
- Reduce interference: Turn off or move devices that may interfere (microwave ovens, baby monitors, cordless phones) during setup.
- Reboot thermostat: Restart the Ngenic thermostat from its menu and retry Wi‑Fi setup.
If E02 remains even with strong signal and correct password, the internal Wi‑Fi module on the Ngenic thermostat main board may be defective and require replacement by an authorized technician.
