Ngenic Poor Temperature Control / Overshoot

Room temperature overshoots the setpoint by several degrees before the heating turns off.

Possible Causes

Incorrect thermostat placement (near heat source or draft), Aggressive control algorithm settings, Slow-response radiators or underfloor heating without proper tuning, Faulty or miscalibrated internal room sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: No electrical work required.

  • Check placement: Ensure the Ngenic thermostat is on an interior wall, away from direct sunlight, radiators, and drafts.
  • Adjust control settings: In the app, look for advanced settings such as cycle rate, anticipation, or underfloor mode and adjust according to Ngenic guidelines.
  • Enable learning: If Ngenic offers adaptive/learning control, ensure it is enabled and allow several days for it to tune.
  • Use remote sensor: If available, pair a Ngenic remote room sensor and set it as the primary temperature source for more accurate readings.

If overshoot persists and the sensor location is good, the internal sensor may be out of calibration; replacing the thermostat or using an external Ngenic room sensor can resolve this.
