How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before opening the thermostat.
- Step 1 – Power cycle:
- Turn off power for 2 minutes and restore.
- Check if flicker persists.
- Step 2 – Inspect display connector:
- Open thermostat housing.
- Gently press on any ribbon cable or connector between PCB and display to ensure it is seated.
- Step 3 – Check for moisture:
- Look for condensation or corrosion around the display.
- Dry thoroughly if moisture is present and address the source (e.g. bathroom steam).
- Step 4 – Replace thermostat if display is failing:
- Backlight LEDs are not user-replaceable.
- Install a new Protherm smart thermostat if readability is poor.
