Possible Causes
Burned fan relay or triac, Overload from fan motor or fan coil unit, Miswired fan speed outputs, Shorted fan output to neutral or ground
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power to the fan circuit and thermostat at the breaker. Fan outputs may carry mains voltage on some models.
Steps:
- Compare the fan wiring to the Schneider Electric wiring diagram. Ensure that each fan speed (e.g., low/med/high) is connected to the correct terminal and that neutral is wired correctly.
- Check the fan motor or fan coil unit for signs of seizure or overload; a jammed motor can draw excessive current and damage the thermostat output.
- If possible, temporarily disconnect the fan from the thermostat and test the fan motor separately using a proper test lead and protection (qualified personnel only).
- If the fan runs normally when powered directly but not via the thermostat, the thermostat's fan output driver is likely damaged; replace the thermostat.
- For high-current fans, use the thermostat to drive an external contactor or relay module instead of the motor directly.
