Possible Causes

Contaminants or moisture on touch surface, Static discharge affecting touch controller, Loose connection between display and main board, Failing touch controller IC on Sensi PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power to the HVAC system at the breaker before removing the thermostat from the wall.

Steps to attempt:

  • Clean the surface: Gently wipe the thermostat face with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use solvents or spray cleaner directly on the thermostat.
  • Power cycle: Remove the thermostat from the wall plate for 1–2 minutes, then reattach. This can reset the touch controller.
  • Check mounting: Ensure the thermostat is firmly snapped onto the wall plate and not flexing when pressed.
  • Use the app: If the physical interface is unreliable, use the Sensi app to control temperature and settings while you arrange for repair or replacement.

When to replace: Persistent unresponsiveness indicates a failing display or touch controller. The thermostat assembly should be replaced.
