Sensi
Intermittent Wireless Connectivity
Thermostat frequently disconnects from Wi‑Fi but then reconnects

Possible Causes
Marginal Wi‑Fi signal at thermostat, Router channel congestion or interference, Power saving or band steering features on router, Overheating Wi‑Fi module in thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No HVAC power work is required.
Steps to improve stability:
- Improve signal strength: Move the router closer, add a Wi‑Fi extender, or reorient antennas to improve signal at the thermostat.
- Change Wi‑Fi channel: In the router settings, select a less congested 2.4 GHz channel (1, 6, or 11) to reduce interference.
- Disable band steering: If your router automatically moves devices between 2.4 and 5 GHz, disable this feature or create a dedicated 2.4 GHz SSID for the thermostat.
- Ensure adequate ventilation: Make sure the thermostat is not installed over a heat source inside the wall that could overheat the electronics.
When to replace: If other devices are stable on the same network and the Sensi continues to drop offline, the internal Wi‑Fi module may be failing and the thermostat may need replacement.
