Possible Causes
Loose LCD ribbon cable, Failed LCD controller on Stelpro board, Firmware crash during boot, Physical damage to display glass
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the thermostat from the wall.
Steps to troubleshoot blank display:
- 1. Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 1–2 minutes, then ON. Watch for any logo or text during boot.
- 2. Check app connectivity: See if the thermostat still appears in the Stelpro app and responds to commands. If so, the issue is likely limited to the display.
- 3. Inspect for cracks: Look closely for hairline cracks in the display. Any physical damage usually requires replacement.
- 4. Reseat display connector (advanced): With power OFF and thermostat opened (if serviceable), gently reseat the LCD ribbon cable on the main board.
- 5. Firmware recovery: If the app allows, attempt a firmware update or recovery procedure.
- 6. Replace thermostat: If the display remains blank and the unit is unresponsive, replace the thermostat.
Note: A blank display with working heat control may still be operated via the app temporarily.
