Possible Causes
Corrupted firmware on Tado device, Interrupted firmware update, Internal memory fault, Incompatible firmware version with Internet Bridge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is a low-voltage electronic fault. Do not open the device casing.
- Power reset: Remove the batteries from the affected device for at least 2 minutes. For wired thermostats, turn off power at the breaker for 2 minutes, then restore.
- Check app for updates: Open the Tado app and ensure the Internet Bridge is online so that firmware updates can be delivered. Leave the system powered for at least 1 hour to allow automatic updates.
- Re-pair device: Remove the device from the Tado app, then follow the pairing instructions to add it again. Keep it close to the Internet Bridge during this process.
- Check for multiple bridges: Ensure you are not running more than one Internet Bridge in the same home network, which can confuse firmware distribution.
- If E05 persists: The internal memory or processor may be defective. Contact Tado support for a replacement device.
