Internal Temperature Sensor Failure
Smart thermostat shows E06 and room temperature reading is clearly wrong (e.g., 5°C or 50°C indoors).

Possible Causes
Faulty NTC temperature sensor on thermostat PCB, Sensor calibration drift, Heat source directly affecting thermostat (radiator, sunlight), Thermostat mounted incorrectly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not open the thermostat housing. Only adjust mounting and settings.
- Check placement: Ensure the thermostat is not installed directly above a radiator, in direct sunlight, or near a drafty window or door. These conditions can cause apparent sensor errors.
- Compare readings: Use a reliable room thermometer placed next to the thermostat to compare readings over 15–20 minutes.
- Use temperature offset: In the Tado app, go to the device settings and apply a temperature offset to correct minor deviations (e.g., ±1–2°C).
- Power reset: Remove power (batteries or mains) for 2 minutes and restore to clear transient sensor faults.
- If E06 remains and readings are extreme: The internal NTC sensor is likely defective and the thermostat should be replaced.
