Possible Causes
Unstable Internet connection during update, Insufficient power (low batteries), Internet Bridge firmware outdated, Internal flash memory error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not interrupt power during an active firmware update unless instructed.
- Stabilize network: Ensure the Internet Bridge has a stable wired connection to the router and that the Internet is not dropping.
- Ensure adequate power: For battery devices, install fresh batteries before retrying the update.
- Restart bridge and device: Power-cycle the Internet Bridge and remove/reinsert the thermostat batteries, then leave the system powered for at least 1 hour to allow the update to retry.
- Avoid repeated resets: Do not repeatedly power-cycle during the update window, as this can corrupt firmware.
- If E18 persists: Contact Tado support; the device may need replacement due to flash memory issues.
