Possible Causes
Stuck open TRV valve pin, Smart Radiator Thermostat not seated correctly, Boiler pump overrun with bypass radiator always open, Zone valve stuck open
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Radiators can be very hot. Use gloves if necessary.
- Check Tado status: In the app, confirm that the room is not calling for heat and that the Smart Radiator Thermostat shows the valve as closed.
- Remove Tado head: Carefully remove the Smart Radiator Thermostat from the hot radiator and check the valve pin. If it is stuck down, gently pull it up with pliers wrapped in cloth, then press and release several times until it moves freely.
- Reinstall and recalibrate: Refit the Tado head securely and run calibration from the app.
- Check boiler overrun: Some boilers keep the pump running and may heat a bypass radiator even when Tado is off. Identify if the overheated radiator is the bypass and adjust its valve slightly to reduce flow, or consult a heating engineer to fit a proper bypass valve.
