Possible Causes
Weak 2.4 GHz signal at thermostat location, RF interference from nearby devices, Overloaded router, Incorrect router channel settings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: HVAC control usually continues locally even when Wi‑Fi is unstable.
- Check signal strength: On your phone, stand next to the thermostat and check Wi‑Fi signal bars. If low, move the router closer or add a Wi‑Fi extender.
- Reduce interference: Keep the router away from microwaves, cordless phone bases, and thick metal objects. Avoid placing the thermostat directly on a metal duct chase.
- Router channel: Log into your router and set the 2.4 GHz channel to 1, 6, or 11. Avoid auto channel if it frequently changes.
- Limit devices: If many devices are connected, disconnect unused ones or upgrade to a higher-capacity router.
- Firmware updates: Update both the router firmware and the thermostat firmware via the Kasa app if possible.
