Possible Causes
Contaminated humidity sensor, Placement near humidifier outlet or bathroom, Internal sensor failure, Condensation inside thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Steps:
- Compare readings: Use a separate hygrometer to compare humidity near the thermostat.
- Placement: Avoid installing the thermostat near showers, kitchen ranges, or whole-house humidifier outlets.
- Dry out: If condensation is suspected, power off the thermostat, remove it, and allow it to dry in a warm, dry room for several hours.
- Gentle cleaning: Blow out dust with dry compressed air through the vents. Do not spray liquids.
- Replace thermostat: If readings remain inaccurate by a large margin, the humidity sensor is defective and the thermostat should be replaced.
