Possible Causes
Thermostat already registered to another Trane Home account, Outdated Trane Home app, Cloud service outage, Incorrect time/date on thermostat causing SSL failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: This is a connectivity/account issue, not a hardware failure.
- Step 1 – Verify Trane Home service status: Check Trane or Nexia service status pages for any reported outages.
- Step 2 – Update app: Ensure the Trane Home / Nexia app is updated to the latest version on your phone.
- Step 3 – Correct thermostat time: Make sure the thermostat has the correct time, date, and time zone. Enable automatic time sync if available.
- Step 4 – Remove old registrations: If the thermostat was previously linked to another account, log into that account and remove the device, or contact Trane support to release it.
- Step 5 – Reattempt pairing: Follow the in-app instructions to add a new thermostat, ensuring the thermostat is in pairing mode and on the same network.
